Real Estate In Highland Beach

Are you looking for direct oceanfront property in Palm Beach County? Here is why buying real estate in Highland Beach is our #1 suggestion.

It goes without saying the Town of Palm Beach is, of course, the nicest, most exclusive, and most expensive option. If you can afford $50 Million to $100 Million for an oceanfront estate, by all means, Palm Beach (or Manalapan) is the place to be.

For the rest of us, though, the hunt for the perfect beachfront home continues.

It will be difficult, if not impossible, to find a direct oceanfront home in Boca Raton. This is because Highland Beach occupies about half the coastline from the Boca / Delray border south to Spanish River Blvd. The remainder of the Boca Raton oceanfront property is dedicated chiefly to public beaches and parks. While there is a stretch of oceanfront to the south surrounding the famous Boca Beach Club, fully developed with high-rise buildings, no single-family residences are directly on the ocean.

This brings us to our recommendation of Highland Beach. With a population of under 10,000 during the season and even fewer with less than 5,000 full-time residents, Highland Beach is only slightly more than 1 square mile in size, which means it is one of the smallest towns in Florida. But don’t let the size fool you. This 3 mile stretch of ocean-to-Intracoastal land is packed with mega-mansions and luxury high-rise condominiums. If you are looking for a direct oceanfront estate in Palm Beach County, Highland Beach will not disappoint with plenty of opulent options to choose from. The small stretch of the famous Florida A1A is lined with oceanfront mansions that range from 10,000 to 25,000+ square feet and are currently selling from just over $10 Million to as high as $40 Million. The beaches are all considered public, however, unless your home is located close by to one of the public access points, your backyard is for all practical purposes your own private beach. If your dream is to live directly on the beach and yet still enjoy the safety and security of a gated community, check out Ocean Place Estates, a small oceanfront enclave of just 11 single-family homes. There are also numerous luxury condominiums in Highland Beach, the largest and most popular is Toscana Condos. Countless other residential communities along the Intracoastal provide attractive housing options at lower price points.

The town of Highland Beach has its own police department, fire rescue, and water department. Many residents of neighboring cities enjoy driving through the town of Highland Beach either by car or motorcycle. Be sure not to speed, or you are bound to be stopped by the police.

Day-to-day life in Highland Beach couldn’t be more convenient. Head north on A1A, and within minutes you will find yourself in downtown Delray Beach with endless dining and social options on its famed Atlantic Ave. Head south, and you are in Boca Raton, where you will find all the world-class shopping and dining that you can imagine. The Boca Raton (fka The Boca Raton Resort And Club) just completed a $200 million renovation. You can purchase a country club membership that will give you access to 2 golf courses, their Beach Club, and numerous dining venues. If you utilize private air travel as many residents of Highland Beach do, not to worry, the Boca Raton Airport (KBCT) is a mere 10 minutes away. Check out either of the two FBO’s, Signature Flight Support or Atlantic Aviation, and you will quickly see that you are in company. Miami with all that it is famous for is just one hour away, and Palm Beach is only 30 minutes away.

Full-time residents with school-age children will be pleased to know that the homes in Highland Beach are zoned for the best Boca Raton public schools; JM Mitchell Elementary School, Boca Raton Middle School, and Boca Raton High School.

In conclusion, we believe Highland Beach is one of the best options for oceanfront living in Florida. Seasonal and full-time residents alike will fall in love with this beach town and will quickly call Highland Beach home!
